전시 개요 OVERVIEW 작가의 자연 풍경은 찰나로 각인되는 모습을 잊지 않고 그려내고 싶은 충동이 일어났을 때 느낌과 감정을 유지해 그림을 완성하는 것이다. 자연으로부터 전달받는 다양함을 이용하여 작가는 형상보다는 자연스러움, 그곳으로 들어가 보거나 멀리서 마주했을 때 차이를, 변화하는 빛에 따라 달라지는 나무들을 접하여 정서적 감동이 일 때 캔버스로 옮긴다. 이때 형상보다는 자연을 경험했을 때 느끼는 내면이 심리적 요소와 연결된다. 마음에 끌리는 경치를 담아내기 위한 작업이 섬세한 붓터치와 만난다. 수평적 구도로 화면 안은 작가의 뷰파인더에서 클로즈업되듯이 주변을 재단하여 평면 안에서 어떠한 상황을 중심처럼 보여주기도 한다. 빛과 어두움이 대비되는 연출이며 아름다운 풍경이 된다. 잔잔하게 스치는 바람, 공기와 푸르른 색조는 그림이 되면서 편안함으로 관람객에게 전달된다. 작품은 크게 ‘숲 인상’과 ‘자연 인상’, ‘아카시아’로 구별된다. 숲 인상은 자연(숲)을 마주하여 바라보았을 때를 그린 것이며 자연 인상은 자연 안으로 들어가 느낌을 전달받을 때 그리는 것이다. 아카시아는 잎이 평면적이고 패턴적인 인상을 받아 표현된 작품이다. 다른 시리즈보다 더 깊이 들어가 확대된 이미지로서 자연인상을 그릴 당시 잎이 표현된 점묘가 하나하나를 자연 안에서 만났다는 생각이 아카시아 시리즈를 완성케 했다. 작가로서 자신만의 시각화된 경험을 잊지 않고 그만의 방식으로 표현하기 위해 점묘가 중요히 사용되었으며 원근법이나 투시도, 눈에 익숙한 구도는 최대한 자제하여 무의식적 붓터치가 자신만의 감각적인 요소로 드러난다.
