정병현 Byeonghyeon Jeong ‘a. INCLINATION’

전시 개요 OVERVIEW 정병현은 한지(오합지)에 안료를 뿌리고, 칠하기를 수없이 반복하고 이를 타투바늘로 뜯어내는 방식을 되풀이하면서 오로지 자신만의 추상 언어를 발전시켜가는 추상 작가이다. 무엇보다 그의 작업방식은 매우 독창적이며 한국 동시대 미술에서 독보적이다. 예술의 본령을 찾아가는 정병현의 작업 과정은 철학적 사유와 함께 새로운 시도, 재료와 테크닉의 실험의 단계 – 한지에 타투바늘을 능숙하게 사용하기 위한 기법적 탐구와 모색 – 를 거쳤고, 그는 지금은 물아일체의 단계에 와있다. 가까이에서 세세히 보고도 설명 없이는 작업방식을 눈치채기 어려울 정도로 그의 작업은 독자적이며, 정교하다. 작품 타이틀의 모호한 기울기(ambiguous inclination)에서 알 수 있듯이 이번 전시회에서의 신작들은 화면에 보여지는 선들과 기하학적 이미지의 기울기 관계에서 나타나는 모호한 느낌을 담고 있다. 이것은 이전 작품들에서 나타나는 규칙적, 불규칙적 관계에서 불완전성을 수용하고자 했던 방식의 연장선에 있고, 그것은 조금 더 직관적으로 보여진다. 그리고 한지라는 재료의 포용성은 타투바늘로 뜯어내어 그 속에 숨겨져 있는 색채를 드러나게 한다. He has been developing his own abstract language(inner necessity) by repeating to spray and paint with pigments on Korean paper-5 sheets overlapped HANJI-over and over again, and then to rip them (colors) off with a tattoo needle (one to triple). He expresses formative elements in basic forms and colors as an abstract artist. Above all, he does art in a very ingenious way and is in his own league. Jeong’s work process in search of the essentials of art went through new attempts such as technical exploration and search for skillful use of tattoo needles on HANJI along with philosophical thoughts, and now he is almost at the unity stage of the ego and the outside world. His work is so unique and sophisticated that it is difficult to notice the way he works without explanation even if look closely and closely. As the title of this exhibition ‘ambiguous Inclination’ suggests, the new works on contain sense of ambiguity in the relationship between the lines and geometric images on the work. This is an extension of the way that he wanted to accommodate imperfections in regular and irregular relationships that appear in his earlier works, and it is presented in a more intuitive. Hanji, the material with tolerance, is ripped off with a tattoo needle to reveal the colors hidden in it.
