Leejung Gallery presents a profound exploration into the worlds of Lee Bae and Moon Insoo, two masters of Korean contemporary art who converge through the themes of “materiality” and “meditative practice.” Lee Bae utilizes charcoal, a condensed essence of creation and extinction, to reveal the abyss of black light and complete a circular aesthetic of emptiness and fullness. Moon Insoo, through his process of “Hyunryul”, carves the trajectories of life and invisible social orders onto the canvas by scraping through sand and cement. This exhibition, where the serene energy of charcoal meets the raw vibrations of cement, unveils a performative rhythm born from the artists’ fingertips.
